ABOUT AGAPE

IDENTITY

Agape is a Christian non-profit organization, with a continuous presence in Greece for almost 50 years.

Agape is functioning independently at the national level but remains affiliated with CRU, which has branches in over 190 countries worldwide, with a staff of about 27,000 people and over 225,000 volunteers.

VISION

The fundamental social and universal Christian values, which resonate all through the Bible, should be experienced by every person, so as to inspire and strengthen them spiritually, and to significantly affect their interpersonal and social relationships, their work and daily living, in all areas and aspects.

These values, even if they become the foundation of only one person’s life, could influence and shape the dynamics of an entire community, and function as an important starting point for a society characterized by solidarity, loyalty, unity, cooperation and mutual support.

PARTNERSHIPS

Agape works together with other organizations, private or state bodies (at the local, national and European levels) with which it shares the same values and goals, as well as with all Christian Denominations (Orthodox, Catholic, Protestant).

VALUES

Agape’s values stem from the core principles of the Christian faith, such as love, empathy and respect for fellow humans, tolerance and forgiveness, solidarity, and mutual assistance, the right to life and dignity, transparency and justice – values that are also included in the Charter of Fundamental Rights of the European Union.

WORK

Agape transforms its principles into specific actions and programs, thus providing a multifaceted social, humanitarian, cultural and spiritual work, in various regions of Greece.

More specifically, though not exclusively, Agape delivers humanitarian aid and medical care to socially and economically vulnerable groups, provides care to refugees, creates educational programs available to all schools of the country, trains teachers, holds conferences on leadership development, organizes musical and cultural events, supports the families and ministers to women – by organizing events, discussion groups and counseling sessions – creates and offers Bible study materials, runs seminars and training sessions for catechists, in collaboration with the Church, and supports young people, especially students, by coordinating regular weekly meetings and events.
