22/10/2024Meeting with His Beatitude the Pope and Patriarch of Alexandria and All Africa (October 2024)
As part of the events commemorating the 20th anniversary of Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa, and through the initiative of Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias, the Patriarch met with representatives from Agape Hellas and the Jesus Film Project. The aim was to explore opportunities for collaboration in support of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate’s humanitarian, cultural, social, and educational work across the African continent.
A Common Mission
The director of Agape Hellas, Mr. Emmanouil Toufexis, stated:
“Our shared mission—to preach and demonstrate the Gospel through our actions—unites us in the same cause. Both Agape Hellas and the Jesus Film Project are committed to spreading the message of Christ in ways that resonate with people in their own language, culture, and context. We believe this partnership offers a unique opportunity for our Orthodox Church to extend the dissemination of the Gospel and its humanitarian efforts, especially in Africa, by collaborating with a global network of organizations that share similar values and missions.”
A Meaningful Partnership
He continued, “This collaboration is not limited to Agape Hellas or the Jesus Film Project alone. Through us, you will gain access to a broader network of Christian humanitarian organizations that share your vision. This global network provides resources such as multimedia tools, humanitarian aid, and spiritual education programs. Through our cooperation, we believe the Orthodox Church can strengthen its reach, influence, and presence in communities that are in need – both spiritually and materially.”
A New Discipleship Resource
“We are also pleased to introduce a new discipleship resource titled “Going Deeper with Jesus Christ”, developed in collaboration with Metropolitan Ignatios of Demetrias and Almyros. This material is designed to guide the believers into a deeper and more meaningful relationship with Christ, and we believe it can be particularly beneficial for your Metropolises. Additionally, we offer various digital tools that can support this effort by providing modern and effective ways to spread the Gospel.”
The meeting concluded in a spirit of love and unity, laying the groundwork for future fruitful collaborations with the various Metropolises.
