On the occasion of 8th of March (International Women\u2019s Day), an online event was held on the engaging topic, “The Value of Women: A Biblical Perspective,” featuring keynote speaker Professor Dimitrios Christidis, Emeritus Professor of Ancient Greek Philology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (A.U.Th.).<\/p>\n\n
The talk emphasized the equality of men and women before God, highlighting the many honorable mentions of women in the Bible. Noteworthy examples of women from biblical narratives were presented, both from the Old Testament (Deborah, Ruth, Abigail, Huldah, Esther) and the New Testament, including the Mother of God, as well as prominent women who served Jesus Christ and His disciples during His earthly ministry, were present at His crucifixion, and became primary messengers of His resurrection. Other women who eagerly accepted the gospel, served with distinctive spiritual gifts in the Christian Church, and were mentioned by name in the apostle Paul\u2019s Epistles, were also discussed.<\/p>\n\n
The speech concluded with references to women who stood out for their spiritual lives throughout Church history and in spreading the gospel, with some even honored as \u201cEqual to the Apostles.\u201d \n<\/p>\n\n
